Bangalow - Clover Hill House When the new owners

Bangalow - Clover Hill House

When the new owners bought the heritage listed house it was in a severely dilapidated state with most of the original verandah’s enclosed with fibro and glass

We re-configured the entire house with subtle strategic changes, to respond to the heritage listing and retain the existing character of the house. These changes included new entry stairs, new bathrooms around the perimeter, new master bedroom and ensuite + new kitchen and dining area with new connections to the front living rooms. We also added a large pool and cabana in the spacious garden.

Incredibly, the heritage listing for the house included the ‘innovative use of a new material’ at the time – asbestos! All internal walls were lined with asbestos, which had to be carefully removed, after a lengthy approvals process with Council. The ceiling and floorboards were retained and meticulously restored.

We are looking for a Graduate Architect to join our team based in beautiful Brunswick Heads, NSW

Due to an increasing number of new residential projects both in the Byron Bay Area and Sydney, our team is growing!

The applicant will be working closely with the company director, who has 25 + years experience, in order to produce high quality design. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and diligent with a strong focus on producing high quality work.

Our projects are mostly residential and located in the Northern Rivers and Sydney. Our practice has a strong interest in light and space and we do a lot of work on buildings in heritage conservation areas. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with working on these types of projects.

Architect Fin & Co is owned by a long time local family who loves everything outdoors including surfing, fishing and mountain biking.

We have an exciting mix of projects from new beach houses to rural properties as well as city dwellings.

Requirements:

- 2-3 years experience (essential)
- Must be proficient in ArchiCAD (essential)
- Experience working on residential projects in Australia (essential)
- Has great attention to detail and is able to work independently
- Ability to read structural drawings (essential)
- Knowledge of how buildings go together with a great construction knowledge
- Familiarity with the DA and CDC processes
- Proficiency in Lumion or other 3D rendering program is a plus

Anna is our Studio Manager and overseas all our client relationships as well as Marketing.

Before joining Architect Fin & Co, Anna completed a degree in Psychology and worked as a Business Development Manager in the Construction, Mining and Oil & Gas Industries.

Anna’s biggest passionate is connecting with people and creating a top class experience for our clients.

Outside the office Anna loves spending time with her 3 boys and can often be found paddling out the Pass on her longboard right next to her little grooms.

Led by Owner Fin Murray who has been in the architecture world for 25 years transforming residential and commercial projects into inspiring and highly functional dreams

Fin doesn’t like to limit himself to a particular style but loves creating designs that respond to the place and the people who use them.

He overseas all our residential and commercial projects and spends his time traveling back and forth from Sydney to Byron to make sure every goes smoothly onsite

When he isn’t working on something creative Fin is addicted to surfing and likes spending time with his 3 boys in the ocean and out in the bush mountain biking. He also loves looking after the land he lives on and sit in stillness drawing. But let’s be honest, with 3 wild boys around, there isn’t much of that happening 😉

The funniest thing is that the clients wanted to use galvanised iron on the new roof but Byron Council doesn’t allow it (see blog on our website), but the site dunny however is fully clad in galvanised iron!
