New House in Redfern, Sydney

After a challenging Council process to achieve off-street parking and fit in with a heritage streetscape, this completely new compact 4 bedroom house in the backstreets of Redfern took on a character of it’s own.

Despite a pitched roof form to the street, the rest of the house is a much more contemporary design and is filled with light from every angle.

A massive gumtree shades the house at the rear, and hand-chiselled sandstone blocks from the foundations of the house which used to exist on the site have been re-use to form a lovely textured wall in the rear garden.
